In a sweeping victory at every level, Barack Obama was elected president of the United States on Tuesday.
Democrats retained all four of their Bangor State House seats, sending a new team of legislators to represent the city in Augusta.
Mainers Embrace Absentee Voting
A quarter of Maine's registered voters cast their ballots before election day, either by traditional absentee ballots or by early in-person voting offered in many municipalities. The absentee 'turnout' (ratio of absentee voters to total registrations) varied among Maine cities and towns, with Bangor having one of the highest percentages of registered voters using absentee.
